We are delighted to be developing a new community garden at the much-loved Slade Gardens Adventure Playground in Stockwell.
We were introduced to the site last summer, which had a collection of totally overgrown & neglected raised beds. There were also 3 thriving beehives there, whose honey is sold locally to support the maintenance of the popular adventure playground & community centre.
Using funding we have secured, this spring we will be creating an entirely new space for growing food and flowers with local people. Workshops will be delivered from April onwards, some open-access, others directly supporting local primary schools and community groups.
This promises to be an excellent addition to Lambeth’s network of community gardens, & we will update our social media and newsletter subscribers as the plans for the year develop. We will need lots of volunteers in the site transformation, and there will be plenty of opportunities to learn, contribute and garden with local people!
