We managed a communal garden used by residents and artists’ studios, on behalf of Warwick Estates. In 2015 we improved some of the planting, adding hundreds of bulbs, new climbers and shrubs. The site acted as a training ground for our volunteers and aspiring gardeners, who were supported by our experienced staff to learn the skills necessary for commercial maintenance horticulture. In our first year there, we were sadly obliged to remove a very mature sycamore tree on site, which had died due to recent construction work destroying its root zone. This was another chance though, to learn from the excellent arboricultural skills of Charles Hurst and his team at Aralia Tree Services.
