When we create and maintain urban green spaces, we apply permaculture principles and seek to use the most sustainable suppliers possible. Some of the key outcomes of our work are to:

How We Do It

Source as locally as possible: London, UK, Europe.

Avoid the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides.

Choose drought-tolerant plants which require minimal watering.

Avoid using plastic, cement and peat, choosing alternatives wherever possible.

Work with our suppliers to embed sustainability in everything they do.

Anna Godefroy

Anna Godefroy

Managing Director

Anna joined us in 2021 to craft and deliver a strategic vision for the years ahead. As co-founder and director of the inspirational Binners’ Project in Vancouver, she brings a wealth of social entrepreneurial skills to the team.

Bruno Lacey

Founding Director

Bruno founded Urban Growth in 2014, to explore novel ways of managing public spaces with the people who use them. He now lives in Lisbon, supporting the team from afar while he focuses on his new social enterprise Upfarming.

With a diverse background of financial and strategic management, Elliot joined us in 2020, to help guide company strategy and support the team to make well-informed investment decisions.

Flora Gordon

Operations Manager

Flora completed the Urban Growth training program in 2015, & now manages many of our maintenance & community projects. She oversees our work with Lambeth Council, in particular the Edible Living program.

Orsetta Hosquet

Orsetta Hosquet - Urban Growth

Logistics Manager

Orsetta started volunteering with us in 2017, & quickly became a valuable part of the team, with her background in interior & stage design. She manages our new builds, working with clients at every step to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Tish Vail

Tish joined in 2019, bringing a wealth of experience in permaculture and interior architecture. She loves the process of creative problem solving that large-scale design projects demand, and ensures we can create detailed models of planned projects.

Dorothy Nowalinska

Dot Nowalinska urban growth

Garden Manager

Dorothy started volunteering with us at the Brixton Orchard in 2017. She quickly made gardening her vocation, and now works full time in the sector. She helps to manage our network and to deliver workshops, while designing and maintaining a portfolio of private clients.

Taye Tsega

Head of Food Growing

Taye has been with Urban Growth since early 2016, & plays a key role in the technical aspects of horticulture on our different sites. He is an expert food grower, raising thousands of seedlings every year to distribute across Lambeth community gardens.

Olia has a background in Mathematics and Finance. She holds an MBA diploma from the Chicago Booth School of Business and is a Charted Financial Analyst. Olia has 20+ years of experience in finance, energy and technology internationally. She currently holds the post of the Finance Director at BP Launchpad – BP’s internal start-up accelerator and business builder.  She is also the Board Director at Heliex Power and a Mentor at Wellclubs.

Horticultural Services Manager at Haig Housing Trust

Marcus is a Chartered Master of Horticulture with over 20 years’ experience in the industry. He is currently the Horticulture Technical Manager for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission responsible for providing support, governance and development of standards across the global horticultural operation.
