Last weekend, despite the dreary weather, we had a very successful Harvest Festival with residents from the local area around Slade Gardens.

We had Franco the chef preparing some healthy snacks & drinks for people, using the crops we harvested together. This included tomatoes, physalis, pumpkin and beans that got used in the meals, which the children and adults prepared together:
Couscous salad with vegetables, homemade ravioli with pumpkin filling, physalis dipped in chocolate (one of the kids’ favourite) and some energy balls. 

The children had fun cooking and we adults learned different recipes and how to engage kids in cooking. We also had paint a terracotta pot activity and the Slade bees’ honey was on sale.
