As part of the Peckham Levels transformation, we were asked to design & plant raised beds for an indoor area on the 5th floor of this ex-car park.

The lead architects, Carl Turner Architects, wanted to include plants where they could, but with low light levels the options were limited. The design ultimately required us to bring over 7 tons of soil up 5 floors of ramps, and we had to choose planting that would cope with low light from one direction and full exposure to outdoor temperatures. So we chose tree ferns for height, underplanted with bulbs, heucheras and other ferns with evergreen foliage.
